Singing4fun with Parkinson’s

Backstage Warming Up for the Festive Concert at St Mary's Cathedral 2012

Warming up backstage at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral amid gales of laughter!

Singing4Fun is a community singing group which has been meeting since April 2009 and is run by Parkinson’s UK Edinburgh Branch members, Cathie Quinn and Heather Robertson. We are pleased to announce that we have appointed two new song leaders. Ellie Logan will lead the Wednesday evening sessions at Bellevue Chapel, 7-9 pm, and Penny Stone will lead the Tuesday afternoon sessions at Marchmont St Giles, 2-4 pm. We welcome people with Parkinson’s, carers, family, friends and everyone in the wider community.

We sing for fun and enjoyment – it is good for health, it builds friendships and laughter is guaranteed! We sing in a range of styles and languages to suit every taste, everything from songs from musicals to hymns, from Scots songs to beautiful German ballads.

Although we are not a performance group as such our members do have the option of appearing at public events: for example we have sung at St Giles Cathedral, at St Mary’s Cathedral and at the Usher Hall to raise money for Water Aid, environmental charities and research into Parkinson’s.

Why not come along and sing with us? There are no auditions, no prior experience is required and there is no requirement to read music.

We meet Tues 2-4pm at Marchmont St Giles in Kilgraston Road, EH9 2DW and on Wed 7-9pm at the Bellvue Chapel, Rodney Street, Edinburgh EH7 4EL. All welcome!
