Theiya Arts at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Theiya Arts’ Fringe show that is starting next week. If you’re seeing Fringe shows this year, please check out theirs.

The show is called: Maiden | Mother | Whore.

Karen from Theiya Arts (who run the online yoga class our members can join) tells us she probably would describe the show as a bold, messy and confronting South Asian dance production — and not what you might expect from a South Asian dance show.

The more official information of the show is that it is an interdisciplinary mixed-media performance blending South Asian classical-contemporary dance, interactive projection, spoken word and live audience encounter.

Created by Theiya Arts in collaboration with academics from Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society at University of Edinburgh, the work explores gender, power and resistance through a transnational intersectional feminist lens.

For Fringe 2026, it is presented as a theatre adaptation. A layered, intimate and politically charged space where you are invited to move through an interactive exhibition environment before entering a live performance shaped by movement, projection art and collective reflection.

Image shows the official photo used in advertising for the show. it is the head and shoulders of a woman bathed in blue, so quite sinister.
