Joy Milne stars in BBC programme

Members will be familiar with the story of Joy Milne, the woman who claimed to be able to detect people with Parkinson’s by their body odour. The BBC has made a programme about this remarkable story with the title The Woman Who Can Smell Parkinson’s. The programme was broadcast on Monday 18th December, 2017 at 7.30 pm on BBC One Scotland HD and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer for a limited time thereafter.

The amazing story of Joy Milne, who discovered she can smell Parkinson’s disease. Elizabeth Quigley talks to Joy and meets the scientists who are investigating this groundbreaking ability. She also hears how Joy’s family was torn apart by this cruel disease. The hope is that research on Joy will lead to new advances in the treatment and detection of a disease that is second only to Alzheimer’s amongst neurodegenerative illnesses.
