EYPSG Meeting – Smelling Parkinson’s

Joy Milne’s husband had PD. Her ability to smell Parkinson’s first came to light in a 2013 trial involving Edinburgh Branch Members and organised by Tilo Kunath, University of Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Young Parkinson’s Support Group invited Joy to talk at their Zoom-based 4th June meeting. Joy, who originally trained as a nurse, spoke about her collaborative work with Professor Perdita Barran, University of Manchester. The research is focussed on developing a smell-led approach to diagnosing Parkinson’s. You can view Joy’s presentation slides here

And for those who are not already aware of Joy’s background and the lead up to the research with Perdita Barran, you can learn more from a BBC News item, 20 March 2019
