We received an initiation we wanted to share, to se join the West of Scotland Research Interest Group as they host Dr Alison Williams and Amanda McKay, talking about physical activity for well-being in Parkinson’s.
When: Thursday 27 April 2023, 2:30 – 3:30pm
Where: Online via Zoom
Our very own Alison Williams was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2012. She will talk about her personal experience of meeting and working with Joy Milne (the woman who can smell Parkinson’s), how she has slowed, stopped and reversed some of her symptoms through physical activity, and how she maintains her well-being with the support of the Parkinson’s community.
Amanda McKay, Physical Activity Support Officer delivering the National Lottery funded project “Parkinson’s Active” in Scotland, will provide an overview of the activities and opportunities available for people with Parkinson’s to ‘get active and stay active’ based on the most up-to-date research around the importance of physical activity in managing Parkinson’s symptoms.
