Visit to the Anne Rowling Clinic

A group of approximately 20 Branch members enjoyed a guided tour of the new Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic, located at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, on 18th February 2013. The Clinic was established in 2010 after a £10M donation from the Edinburgh-based author JK Rowling, famous for her Harry Potter novels.

We were given a brief overview of the work of the clinic by Shuna Colville, the clinic manager. The Clinic focuses on patient-based clinical research, targeting the discovery of treatments that will slow progression of neurodegenerative diseases, with the ultimate ambition of repairing damage.

Mindy Quigley, the Project Manager, explained how the facility had been conceived, designed and built, and we then enjoyed a tour of the facilities.
