Participants Wanted for User Research in Design of New Government Benefit

We have been asked to circulate a request to participate in research on the following dates:

  • Tues 26th March; Wed, 27th March; Thurs, 28th March.

This research involves looking at web pages, so the sessions will ideally be conducted online, over Teams or Zoom.

Alternatively, for people in Edinburgh or Glasgow, the researchers may be able to go to participants homes.

The gist of the research is the design of delivery of a ‘new benefit’ to be called Pension Age Winter Heating Payment (PAWHP). PAWHP will launch in October 2024, and it will be paid to all eligible pension-aged people living in Scotland. PAWHP will replace the Winter Fuel Payment which is currently paid annually by DWP.

The aspiration is to introduce the PAWHP with as little disruption as possible for its recipients. They seek pension-aged people to take part in research to help explore how well the PAWHP paper application form, the MyGov web pages, and letter notifications are read and understood. They are particularly keen to have some people with Parkinson’s as part of their research participants.

The research session would involve an interview (online or in person) so they can share the paper form and letters, and also to see how the web pages are interacted with. This will all take no more than one hour.

To thank participants, they are giving a gift voucher worth £40, which may be used in a number of High Street and online shops like Marks & Spencer and Tesco.
