North of Scotland Research Interest Group Podcasts

The North of Scotland Parkinson’s Research Interest Group (NoSPRIG) covers a large geographical area, so having in-person meetings can be naturally challenging.  NoSPRIG have decided to try a slightly different approach to disseminating and sharing what researchers do.

They have curated a short series of podcasts which are recorded conversions with researchers.  Using questions put forward by people living with Parkinson’s, they have interviewed researchers from Scotland which they plan to launch in the near future.

They are happy for other Research Interest Groups in the UK to pass on this information in a bid to raise awareness of these podcasts.

The podcasts will be available on Podbean via the following link: https://nosprigpod.podbean.com/

At present there is a brief trailer which people can listen to which summarises what the Podcasts are about.

The best option is to click the ‘subscribe’ or ‘follow’ button so you will be notified when they release subsequent Podcasts.

Initial Podcasts

  • Podcast with Dr Angus Macleod who is a Consultant Neurologist and researcher from the University of Aberdeen on the 19th of January.
  • Podcast with Dr Carl Counsell, who is also a Consultant Neurologist and researcher from Aberdeen, will be released on the 26th of January. (Dr Counsell also leads the North of Scotland Parkinson’s excellence network).

As soon as these podcasts are released they can be listened to at any time on smartphones, tablets, laptops or personal computers.  The podcasts will remain on the NoSPRIG Podbean site, so can be listened to again, and at a time which is convenient to you.

The intention is to release subsequent podcasts on a monthly basis thereafter.

Q&A on Zoom

Dr Counsell’s and Dr Macleod’s podcasts will be followed by a Q&A session via zoom on the 8th of February at 1pm, so that people have the opportunity to ask these researchers any questions following listening to the podcasts.  The log in details for the Zoom which will be shared in due course.
