Nordic Walking Research in Scotland: Participants Needed

Participants needed for a pilot study to investigate the effects of Nordic Walking on Parkinson’s disease. 

This will be a 12-week study (proposed start: TBC)

  • Are you between 40-75 years of age
  • Recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease?
  • Able to walk independently or with minimal assistance for 60   mins outdoors?
  • Have you never done Nordic Walking?
  • Willing to participate voluntarily and provide informed consent?
  • Able to attend at least 10 of the 12 weekly sessions?
  • Have a non-Parkinsonian buddy (spouse/partner/friend/family member) who is also willing to learn and will also be able to attend these sessions?

 

Thanks to a generous grant provided by Parkinson’s UK, Life Fit Wellness are running a 12-week study to explore the therapeutic benefits of Nordic Walking for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Nordic Walking is a form of physical activity involving specially designed poles to engage upper and lower body muscles. The study will investigate its effects on Parkinson’s symptoms, functional mobility and overall quality of life.
