Alison Stewart, Lead Parkinson’s Nurse for Lothian, gave a wide-ranging talk on issues ranging from medication to constipation. In the latter case, some graphic detail involving Maltesers was employed!

Alison’s talk was followed by a presentation from Betty Thomson, known to many Branch members as our designated ISW (Information Support Worker) but now entitled Parkinson’s Local Adviser (PLA). She gave a comprehensive review of the benefits available to PwP’s and carers, such as Attendance Allowance, and strongly advised those present to consult her before entering a claim to the local authority’s care system.
The meeting was very well-attended, with an audience in excess of fifty, who responded to Chairman Patrick Mark’s vote of thanks with enthusiasm.
