Try Out The National Rail Network Simulator

Friend of Fife Branch Michael Jefferson gave a presentation to them on the roles and responsibilities of a Train Signaller.  He has subsequently extended an invitation for a group of people to learn about and have a (simulated) go at controlling the signals on the National Rail Network.

We have kindly been offered the opportunity to extend this invitation to our membership.  Mark Coxe from Fife tells us:

“No prior experience is necessary since training will be given and a job offer at the end is definitely not a possibility.

This offer is open to up to ten people and would be on a Saturday because that is the day when they are most likely to be quiet. The visit will last approximately two hours, although this may vary. Light refreshments will be available as part of the experience, although please don’t spill drinks on the computers.

The facility is an operational training centre and may have extra training scheduled at short notice, so our group may be bumped accordingly. Flexibility is the key word (not something that you associate with Parkinson’s) and so, our first choice is 29th October, falling back to 19th or 26th November if we get bumped”.

The venue is at Newtongrange Rail Station  and you would have to make your own way there.
