Cure Parkinson’s Webinar: Diet and the gut vs the brain

This online webinar was a partnership with the University of Edinburgh and the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease.

The focus of the webinar is the relationship between the gut and nutrition, and Parkinson’s. There is an emerging understanding of how the gut-brain connection has a role in the progression of Parkinson’s.

Professor Tilo Kunath chaired the webinar, which had an expert group of panellists, including Richelle Flanagan who is delivering this years Edinburgh Parkinson’s Lecture.

Some of the key areas within the webinar are focussed around:

  • What is the gut microbiome and how is it involved in health and disease, specifically Parkinson’s?
  • What is the difference between a gut microbiome and the one seen in Parkinson’s?
  • What promising treatments or interventions related to the gut are being explored and what future developments or breakthroughs do the panellists anticipate?
