Beware of DWP Scam Texts

Many thanks to Scott Wilson, Chair of EYPSG who made us aware of a scam text purporting to be from Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

The content of the one he received is below, but on checking, there are several scam texts that have been sent, some relating to energy benefits, and some for winter fuel allowances.  Please be vigilant.

Because of concerns in relation to cyber security, we have arranged our Branch Get-Together on  Wed 8th  to focus on Scams and Cybersurity.  Claire Taylor Director of Information Services at Edinburgh Napier University will give us guidance and advice.

DWP – Energy Benefit Notice:

The subsidy is a non-repayable government grant and is designed to help you maintain a basic level of comfort and stability in your life against the backdrop of rising energy prices, and is a legitimate entitlement to which you are entitled.
It is important that you complete your application by Saturday 21 June 2025 or you will automatically be deemed to have forfeited your eligibility.
