The Edinburgh Parkinson’s Lecture and Edinburgh Research Interest Group (ERIG) were established by Professor Ken Bowler. In recognition of his achievements, in 2019 the Edinburgh Branch of Parkinson’s UK established The Ken Bowler Travel Bursary to be awarded annually to a young Edinburgh Parkinson’s Researcher.
The 2020 Ken Bowler Travel Bursary has been awarded to Sophie Glendinning, a second year PhD student with Dr Tilo Kunath at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine, University of Edinburgh. Sophie gave a talk about her research on Parkinson’s, using dopaminergic neurons derived from human stem cells, at a recent ERIG meeting (details of the ERIG meeting to follow in the Local Research Events section of our website).
