Research Opportunity: Developing a Drumming App

Parkinson’s UK have 2 opportunities for people with Parkinson’s to take part in research from home.

1. DRUM-AI: Using a drumming app to explore changes in hand movements
Music with a steady beat can help people with Parkinson’s walk and move more easily. Researchers have created a drumming app to explore changes in hand movements in Parkinson’s. They need people with Parkinson’s to test the app to help improve it.

Who do the researchers need?: 25 people with Parkinson’s living in the UK
What is involved?: A 30 to 45 minute meeting with the researchers online or over the phone

Further details of what will be involved:

  • You will complete 2 surveys and be shown how to use the DRUM app
  • Receiving a tablet in the post with the DRUM app installed and written instruction
  • Using the app 5 times a week for 10 to 15 minutes, over 8 weeks
  • Posting the tablet back to the research team in a prepaid envelope with 2 surveys to share your experience with the DRUM app
  • Sharing your feedback on using the app with the researchers, online or over the phone for up to 1 hour
