Participation in Clinical Trials and Research

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are the final phase of the lengthy drug development process. They are an essential step before newer and more effective treatments are introduced into routine care. Many trials of new Parkinson’s treatments struggle to recruit enough suitable volunteers and we need your help!

The NHS Lothian Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Clinical Research Team are a group of Doctors and Nurses from NHS Lothian and the University of Edinburgh who work with the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic and the Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network.

The Team run a variety of research studies and clinical trials for local people affected by Parkinson’s and other movement disorders. Most local studies and trials are conducted in the Clinical Research Facility at the Western General Hospital or the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Please visit these websites to learn more about studies that are currently recruiting participants in Lothian. Members of the Research Team are happy to speak to you.
