Parkinson’s Europe President, Josefa Domingos, is a neuro physiotherapist with more than two decades experience working exclusively with People with Parkinson’s.
As part of their Summer of Sport campaign, Parkinson’s Europe worked together with Josefa to create a guide to overcoming some of the most common barriers to exercising with Parkinson’s, and how to overcome them.
They say “the research literature frequently points to three main factors that can limit people with Parkinson’s from engaging in exercise: low self-efficacy, fear of falling, and reduced expectations of positive outcomes. However, any barrier could be a sufficient reason for someone with Parkinson’s to avoid exercise. It’s whatever problem or barrier is challenging you”.
For ease, we have downloaded the guide, and you can download here.
