Two Research Opportunities (both online participation)

Parkinson’s UK shared with us two opportunities for people with Parkinson’s to take part in research:

1. An online therapy programme for the emotional impact of Parkinson’s
Researchers at the University of Reading are investigating the effect of a new psychological therapy programme on mood and wellbeing for people with Parkinson’s. The programme aims to help people deal with the emotional and psychological impact of Parkinson’s in everyday life.

Who do the researchers need?

120 people with Parkinson’s – who have not received any psychological therapy for the past 6 months

What is involved?

Taking part in an online therapy session with the researcher once a week, for 4 weeks.  Each therapy session will last one hour.  You will be asked to complete a survey at the beginning and end of the programme.

2. Understanding the relationship between the severity of Parkinson’s symptoms and quality of life
A PhD researcher at Toronto Metropolitan University is investigating the relationship between the severity of Parkinson’s symptoms and quality of life. They aim to understand whether taking part in social activities is linked to a better quality of life for people with more severe symptoms.

Who do the researchers need?
100 people with Parkinson’s, who are over 50 years old
What is involved?
You will be asked to fill in an online survey that should take between 60-90 minutes to complete
