To celebrate World Parkinson’s Day, P-UK are launching a challenge spanning the whole of April!
Collectively we would like group members/patients/clients to sign up and log the number of minutes of exercise taken through the month. People can log as frequently as they like, and they can judge what exercise or physical activity they would like to include.
Together, the aim is to complete 166,000 minute of exercise through April, one minute for every person diagnosed with Parkinson’s across the UK.
Parkinson’s UK hope that people can use this to celebrate what they are already doing, and perhaps feel inspired to increase their levels of activity! There is no sponsorship, no commitment, just working towards a shared goal.
People can sign up individually, or as part of a team e.g. a Parkinson’s UK branch or exercise class.
Participants can choose a character name, so they are not sharing their personal details. For those who are more competitive the data can also be broken down between regions and between groups.
Instructions
First, choose whether you are signing up as a group or an individual:
- Sign up as a group : click ‘sign up’, select “Group”, pick a name and region. Share the join link with your team so they can join.
- Sign up as an individual : click ‘sign up’, choose “Individual”, pick your region and a username.
- Save your login code : you’ll get a personal code after signing up. Keep it safe, it’s how you log back in if using a different device.
- Log exercise : once logged in, enter what you did and how many minutes. Every minute counts toward the national goal.
