Swimming

Swimming helps people build muscle strength and improve their health and well-being. This gentle, weight-bearing exercise is ideal for people with Parkinson’s as it takes place in a safe environment.

To encourage regular swimming, the Branch has entered into an affiliation with the Edinburgh Leisure Community Access Programme. This means that a Member with Parkinson’s may apply for a Get Active Card (valid for six months and renewable for a further three months). Card holders may swim in any Edinburgh Leisure pool for £1 but must be able to access the pool without staff assistance. A care-partner accompanying the card holder has free entrance. A card holder can also use any of the other facilities at an Edinburgh Leisure Centre.

Get Active Cards may be applied for via the Branch by requesting an application form which can be obtained from the Branch Secretary Liz Hume, P.O. Box 17482, EH12 1NQ ( honsec@edinburghparkinsons.org)

Alternatively you can download the form by clicking CAP Individual Referral Form 2017 Swimming

Please complete the form and send back to Liz via email or post it to 2 Bughtlin Green, Edinburgh EH12 8XA. Only the PwPs need a card.
