Wednesdays 11.30am–12.30pm ALL YEAR

The Gentle Exercise class was one of the first major activities established by the Branch. It is run by Lynne Scott based on her long-standing experience as a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist. As Lynne has been facilitating the class for a good number of years she is acutely aware of the effects of Parkinson’s on the mind and body.
The aim is to support flexibility, strength, co-ordination and balance. Exercises involve working with breath and movement together, so also help with breathing and mental focus, allowing participants to separate from the rest of their day and create some “therapeutic space” for themselves. Exercises can be adapted for the individual including working seated. Voice work is also included.
The success of the classes is demonstrated by the regularity with which participants attend, some of whom are care-partners.
Please note as of 30th June 2017, the sessions at Drylaw Parish Church ceased allowing us to focus organisational effort on the Portobello Swim Centre sessions.
