A ‘dance movement’ class for persons with Parkinson's, their caregivers and friends, taught by professional dancers with live musical accompaniment.
Held at DanceBase in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, EH1 2JU / 0131 225 5525 www.dancebase.co.uk
Fortnightly on Wednesdays 11.00am -12.30pm (contact Mo – mo@edinburghparkinsons.org / 07958 657643 - for current dates)
How much; £3 per person, £5 per couple (ie; PwP and/or partner/carer) members of Edinburgh branch, Parkinson’s UK. All welcome.
This class is for anyone with Parkinson's, at any stage, as well as caregivers and friends. No dance experience is required and we use elements from many styles of dance to create an enjoyable, stimulating, artistic experience for those attending. Whilst ‘moving’, on chairs, at a barre, or standing, everyone in class explores comfortable, dance movements in an enjoyable, non-pressured social environment where live music energizes, enriches and empowers.
It is inspired by and closely follows the Mark Morris Dance Group’s ‘Dance for Parkinson’s’© teaching method built on the premise that professionally trained dancers are movement experts whose knowledge is useful to persons with Parkinson’s. Dancers know all about stretching and strengthening muscles, balance and rhythm, and most importantly, how to use their thoughts, imagination, eyes, ears and touch to control their movements.
Come join us, try and see!

A regular monthly opportunity for People with Parkinson’s, their families and friends to meet and share experience with other people.
